General Information

Target Technology Company LLC offers proprietary silver alloy sputtering targets for the semi reflective (Layer 0) of DVD-9. Many DVD replication companies worldwide are using our innovative target material to replace gold or silicon as the semi-reflective layer in the production of DVD-9. Our customers have been producing DVD-9 discs using our silver alloy technology for over six year with very favorable results. The disc quality is consistently better than conventional DVD-9 with gold and aluminum layers and yet the cost is substantially lower.

We are not just another target supplier. An extensive patent portfolio and pipeline demonstrate our commitment to the ongoing development and refinement of silver alloy materials to meet optical disc industry needs: both cost and technical. In addition to supplying targets, we design materials to meet required and desired specifications, as well as accommodating the rest of the material set.

Compared to running gold, using silver alloy will result in a savings of 4 to 5 cents per DVD-9 disc. Although silver alloy price per disc is comparable to silicon, the manufacturing process using silver alloy is much less problematic, resulting in significantly higher yields. Production capacity per line can be greatly increased with the use of silver alloy instead of silicon. Worldwide, there are at least 20 different companies in various stages of testing our silver alloy targets.
Silver alloy sputtering Targets can be used for the semi-reflective layer (L0) and the highly reflective layer (L1) of prerecorded optical discs, including DVD-9, DVD-14, and DVD-18. Our silver alloys are also used for recordable/rewritable DVD discs.

We offer several compositions of silver alloy, each one optimized to run with specific combinations of sputtering machine, UV bonding resin, and desired climate test results. Our silver alloy targets can be made to fit and run with any DVD sputtering machine out on the market today.
